A laptop on a sofa, the screen showing a soft photo of a sign, a hand pointing at the screen.

You only have a photo of the QR code, sent in a text, a group chat, or a screenshot. The card is not in the room. Scanning that QR from the picture is how you open the event photo page, the one where guests send their files.

A photo dropped in the group

Someone photographed the card on the table and put it in the conversation. You tap the image. The page does not open. The square is often small, sometimes tilted.

That image can still lead to the upload page, if the phone reads the link inside it. When the printed card is in front of you, the gesture is different: you aim the camera. The steps are in how to scan a photo QR code with your phone.

Read the QR inside the image

On iPhone:

  1. Open the image in Photos.
  2. If the square is sharp, a link appears. Tap it.
  3. Otherwise, crop around the square, save, then open the image again.

On Android:

  1. Open Lens and pick the image, or share the image to Lens from the gallery.
  2. Tap the detected QR.
  3. If nothing shows, crop tighter around the square and open the image again.

The link that opens is the event upload page, the same one guests reach when they scan the card in the room.

If the read fails

Ask the person hosting for the address as text. A link is one tap, even when the photo is blurry.

An online site that decodes an image is a last resort. Crop so only the square remains, open the link you get, and do not leave the photo on the site.

For the person hosting

A photo of the card in the group often fails. The square is too small, blurry, or lost in the table. Each guest then has to read it again on their own phone.

Paste the Komos address of the event in the message, the same address as the QR. Guests open the upload page by tapping it. The timing and the wording of that message are in how to follow up with guests after the day.

What not to do

  1. Upload a wide photo of the room to a site you do not know, just to decode a small square.
  2. Photograph a screen that is already showing the QR, glare included, then wonder why nothing reads.
  3. Collect screenshots instead of copying the link once.
  4. Change the public link after photos of the card are already going around. Those images would still point at the old address.

In summary

Open the photo on the phone and tap the link. Crop if the square gets lost in the image. If nothing comes up, ask for the address as text. The person hosting pastes that address in the group from the first message.

The host unlocks the upload page on pricing.
